Summer 1 - Greetings and Welcome - Action

[ It's a mild sunny day when the first group of guests make land at Norrhamn. A gentle breeze rustle the birch trees and tangle in the bunting that's hung across the buildings in celebration of this very special occasion. Aina has been busy gathering up guests over the last few hours and now the ferry is approaching the port, waves breaking gently against the bow.

Olivia is waiting on the jetty, clipboard hugged close to her body. She's excited and nervous all at once, anxious to get to meet these people that she's read so much about, the faces behind the pleading letters. This is the first day her new job becomes hands on. Hopefully she'll be good at it.

As the ferry lands and lets the guests off, Olivia raises a hand in a cheerful greeting. ]

Hello! Welcome to Norrhamn!

Martha shouldered her duffle as she stepped off the ferry. "Oh excuse me!" she remarked as she sidestepped someone else's luggage. "Anything I can help you with?" Regardless of how low she'd felt upon leaving, just the thought of being here lifted the weight from her shoulders. It was easy for Martha to smile at everyone else on the dock.

Well, this was cozy. Martha looked around. She claimed a room and tucked her few items of clothing into the drawers. The shared bathroom would be interesting. She left only her toothbrush and toothpaste there so as to not take up valuable counter space. It was a nice little cabin though. She was looking forward to her time here.

[ Hanako gives a startle, immediately picking her bag off the ground and taking a few steps back from the woman. Her lips quiver with anxiety as she takes longer than normal to reply. ]

N-No, I'm sorry, I should have been c-careful with my bag!

[Martha takes a step back, holding her hands up placatingly with a soft smile on her face.]

My fault entirely. I was too busy taking everything in. I didn't expect this place to be quite as perfect as it is.

I... can understand. It's kind of b-breathtaking. I've never seen s-something like this.

[ She holds the bag tightly in her arms, avoiding eye contact. ]

[Martha nods.] Rural areas are always so full of character in different places.

I'm Martha by the way.

[burntviolet]

... I-I'm Hanako.

[ She takes a deep breath. ]

I've never been in a-... another country, before. I hope I won't get lost...

Hello Hanako. Nice to meet you.

[She nods.] Luckily we are on an island, and there do seem to be paths. I'll have to look the info packet over again, but I'm pretty sure there was a map there.

... Yes. I'd l-like to have something of a reference for the future.

[ She's more hard pressed about finding a library. ]

I guess I'll... manage, s-somehow.

[notrosesshadow]

[Martha doesn't want to make her more uncomfortable than the other girl already is, so she decide it's probably time to extricate herself from the conversation.]

Well, if you ever want to get ahold of me, I'm happy to go exploring with you. But just now, I think I'm about ready to find my room. I'll see you around!

[ Her jaw tightens, with the feeling that she's driving the woman away with her manners and it's not a good start for her. But at the rate her heart is beating, maybe it's the best to have a more proper conversation another time, when she's calmer and adapting to her new home.

She gives a nod and steps back for her own comfort. ]

I'll... keep that in mind. I'm sorry, i-it's... um... nevermind. [ Muttering excuses for how awkward she is only makes her feel worse. ] We'll m-meet again, surely, s-so... goodbye.

[ She waits for Martha to leave, before going on her way too. ]
