( it's been a little difficult to keep this whole thing a secret — mostly because lance has never been able to keep a secret in his entire life, and this is exciting, which makes it one hundred times more difficult than anything he's ever done in his life, up to and including going up against a race of hostile purple aliens — but he's had a little bit of help, and it's been invaluable, and with a little bit of sneaking around, he thinks he might have had a chance to pull the whole thing off.
the general store has the snacks he needs to cover the people that might hang around ( the occupants of cloudberry cabin, at the very least, and there's nothing wrong with heading out to collect more ), and maybe the decorations aren't exactly conventional when it comes to what one might expect for a birthday party, but you do the best with what you're given, and he thinks, when it all comes down to it, that he's done a good job.
never mind that he's gotten a silly idea into his head that he intends to see through to fruition, and it might involve a hidden altean princess and the use of jazz hands. just like they practiced.
it doesn't matter that it's raining. and there is that whole game night thing going on, which means they can move over there anytime they want ( they being the "birthday boy" in question, but that isn't the point ), or they can just chill out here. low-key chill and try to make the other see what he's been missing out on.
it's his own fault for volunteering that he's never had a birthday party before. he should have known this one would find a way to fix it, because that's just what he does, and if he's grinning when he finally manages to drag keith over from where he'd been previously, he absolutely dares anyone to blame him.
he'll try to insist that keith either just keep his eyes closed or keep his hands over them, because he doesn't want to ruin his own surprise before they're actually back inside the cabin, but once they are? ) Surprise! ( this is literally going to be the only warning he gets.
and here, hopefully, is where allura pops out from where she's hiding, complete with practiced jazz hands, and hoo boy does lance think he's done something phenomenal. )

( ooc; it might not actually be october, and so it really isn't keith's birthday — but who really needs a reason for a birthday party? boy's never had one. come celebrate! cloudberry occupants, anyone passing by, you're all welcome to come right on in and celebrate! )
