"Sure thing," Viola chirped. "I haven't seen any spooks yet, but I'm pretty sure I can protect you from them if they should appear."

She stood up and led the way outside. The sun was still up, even if the sky was far more orange than when they last checked it. The long shadows were hardly any more menacing than they were a few hours ago, but this was a relief to Viola. She'd live up to her word but she doubted she'd feel any braver for it.
